Our History

The Old Stonehouse began as the Gervasoni Homestead, built in the 1850s by northern Italian immigrant Carlo Gervasoni.

Using rubble stone construction typical of northern Italian vernacular, Carlo created a home with wine and cheese cellars, stables, and a ballroom that hosted lively community gatherings complete with bocce, folk music, and celebrations.

RESTORATION AUSTRALIA
S1 Gervasoni Homestead, Vic

When Marnie Ireland and Dale Fuller purchased the property from Carlo’s grandson in 2012, it had been unoccupied since 1926 and described by Heritage Victoria as “…extremely dilapidated and derelict, a virtual ruin.” Through careful restoration — featured on Restoration Australia (Series 1, Episode 4) — the property has been lovingly brought back to life and is ready to welcome guests once again.
